Welcome Back Newsletter - September 2003

Welcome back to the start of another new school year - this will be the 21st year of Bramhall School of Dancing! I hope you have all had a good summer holidays and are raring to go for a full term of hard work.

The 11th National Summer School took place in August and was a great success. Over 50 children aged 5 to 18 attended and the whole week was packed with dancing, singing, castanet clicking, drama, cooking, colouring, painting, sticking ....... The scholarship was won by Rebecca Carver and the runner-up was Caitlin Morgan.

There will be no National on: September 26th & 27th, October 24th & 25th, November 7th & 8th and December 12th & 13th. If anyone would like to start National this term, see me, as there are some places available.

To celebrate the 20th and 21st year of the school we will be putting on our SHOW - yes,at last! - to be held at Stockport Plaza on March 26th - 28th. More details to follow shortly. Some parents have suggested starting a club for costumes - paying an amount each week to help out when the costumes start in earnest. If anyone would be willing to run this, please speak to me. We do try our hardest to keep costume costs to a minimum but if you have versatile children a lot of costumes can be involved.

The Saturday Spanish class, run last term as a trial, has proved so popular that I am going to continue it for the foreseeable future. It is FREE, open to anyone over 12 who is interested, but who has the commitment to attend evey week - part-timers not welome.

Ailsa is continuing to take Saturday Drama Class. There is no charge for the class, but Ailsa has been funding the equipment herself, so please could everyone bring £5.00 for the term, which will cover her expenses. Give it to her, not me. New members welcome: Saturday, 10:30 - 11:15.

Congratulations to everyone who took an exam last term - once again, the results have been outstanding.

This term we welcome a new teacher Miss Clare Bramhall who is going to be working in the school on Saturdays. Clare is from Warrington and is a graduate of the Kate Simmons School of Classical Dance. I hope you will all be helpful and welcoming to her as she settles in.

Have a good term, everyone, and - if you are new - Welcome!!! I hope you will be very happy at Bramhall School of Dancing! Work hard, make progress, be proud of yourselves.
